This qualification is aimed at those who are use plant equipment and machinery in a construction environment.
What is required from candidates?
The qualification has 2 mandatory units with pathways developed to recognise competence and knowledge in the use of specific equipment and machinery in the following groups: Extracting Plant, Excavating Plant, Constructing and Forming Plant, Transporting Loads Plant, Laying and Distributing Plant and Cranes and Specialist Lifting Plant.
The qualification is at level 2 although there may be some units at different levels and should be taken by those who are trained to deal with routine assignments but is equally suitable for new entrants to the industry. During assessment candidates should require minimum supervision in undertaking the job.
All work completed must be carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and Industry recognised safe working practices, including the disposal of waste.
The qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the pathways and units available and will allow employees from companies of all sizes and specialisms equal opportunity to complete. The qualification consists of 2 mandatory units with a credit value of 5 credits, candidates must also achieve the required credits from the selected pathway. The minimum credit value of the qualification is 45 credits.
